Yes: It depends on what test is done and which is the virus in question. Usually the labs test for antibodies to viruses rather than the virus itself, though some viruses can be cultured. Please specify what virus you are concerned about and what test?

Pulled hospital records to see LP results. Gluc/protein(n) electrophoresis(n) albumin (h), cultures(-), myelin basic (n). The rest was sent to mayo and another. Does all csf or ms labs process through mayo? Does mayo send results to back to hospital?
