16yo wt loss surgery: It is possible, but not done all that frequently. Anyone under 18 needs to go to an adolescent wt loss surgery program and there aren't many around. The workup is much more extensive than an adult and should include an adolescent psychiatrist & endocrinologist, bone x-rays to prove physiologic maturity, etc. I have operated on many teens, usually 16 at the youngest, but via the process i mentioned.
