Side effects: Corex is basically an antihistamine and codeine, and people use it as a cough suppressant. Google anticholinergic toxicity and opiate toxicity for side effects. They both are harmful if used in excess acutely, but long-term use isn't known to cause severe end-organ damage as much as cause problems from the common side effects (dizziness causing falls, respiratory depression from opiate, etc).
