Clinically: You cannot guarantee, and in fact it is improbable, that all of the tubercle bacilli have been eliminated. You must not have any evidence of active disease if you were treated in the late 90's and have no symptoms of infection at present. The chances of reactivation are very very small, but nonetheless present. Stay cautious. Good luck.

For most treatment : Is medication for a year with TB of the spine with surgery reserved for thise not responding and/or with neuorologic compromise or impending compromise or with spinal instability. After treatment , one can review MRI of the region to assess success of treatment.
