My doctor told me not to have sex while on antibiotics for my current bv and pid infection because she said the infection could come back? could it?

Sex OK with meds: Bacterial vaginosis is a chronic condition rather than a true infection; it occurs as a certain group of bacteria colonize the vagina (as bacteria are known normally to inhabit the vagina). Antibiotic treatment will reduce the numbers of bacteria; symptoms will disappear only to later return. Acute pid usually requires both partners take meds, in which case sex with that partner is safe.
