A member asked:

I have a lipoma in my back on top of rib cage (u/s done) could that have anything to do with the swelling i have in the rib/flank area now?

Shouldn't : The lipoma should not have any correlation with other areas of the body. Each should be evaluated independently of one another. There are diseases that can cause lipomatosis and your doctor can help you asses if that could be the case.

Lipmoa: Lipoma is a benign fatty lump that occurs under the skin & does not become cancerous. Is the swelling you feel at the same site as the lipoma? A lipoma can feel raised or lumpy and could cause a swelling feeling at the same site as the lipoma itself.
