Less calories: You can only lose weight if you burn more calories than you consume. If you are looking for exercises to do while you foot is healing, any upper body exercises would be fine. A stationary bike is doable depending upon how bad your foot is broken and what type of cast you have. If you are able to get in a pool, swimming or wearing a floatation belt and running in the deep end will work.

Exercise : Without putting weight on foot by doing any form of exercise while laying or sitting in quick motion. Like circuit training, fast sit ups etc.
