Impending fear: While the question suggests the patient is 16 yrs, the questioner is 44. But for adolescents, the feeling of safety in the hospital, especially after a trauamtic event such as surgery, can be alluring. You can feel as if, in the hospitla, nothing can go wrong, and all will be well. Perfectly natural feeling, but a bit limited in scope.
