Should not: Patients are asked to not drink or eat for a period of time before surgery to avoid having a full stomach prior to inserting an airway. Just make sure you tell the anesthesiologist what you have eaten or drank in the last 8 hours prior to your surgery.

No, but: It might complicate the anesthesia! let the anesthesiologist know what you've had to drink, how much and what time.
