Do a number of thing: 1) make sure you are drinking enough water 2) decrease the amount of narcotic pain medications, replace with tylenol (acetaminophen) if possible 3) walk as much as you can 4) take a laxative, such as milk of magnesia or miralax 5) take a stool softener, such as colace or metamucil 6) if that fails, you can try a dulcolax suppository 7) if necessary, you can try an gentle enema 8) if that fails, call your md.
