Very high dose: It certainly is a very high dose and if you have been on this dose for a period of time both psychological and physiological dependance is likely. There is certainly safer alternative medications for whatever that dosing is prescribed for. Btw, 0.25mg of xanax (alprazolam) is the bio-equivalent of one alcoholic beverage. 12mg of xanax (alprazolam) daily has the same effect on the brain as 48 drinks. Get a second opinion.

Xanax (alprazolam): Your use seems excessive to me, although i know of people who prescribe in this manner i generally am not at all in agreement. If you have doubts consult with another mental health clinician who can help you uncover the origins of your anxiety and design a constructive plan for treatment for you. Best wishes.

XANAX (alprazolam) DOSING: I agree with both dr. Ciaramicoli & dr desarbo. Are you the person involved? I note that you have 'addiction' listed under conditions & that you are currently taking clonazepam. I don't want to make any judgments because some cases can be incredibly complex & sometimes why particular medications are used at particular doses isn't readily apparent. An average dose is 5 to 6 mg per day, up to >>.
