Does a septoplasty hurt for perferated septums not from drug use?

Nasal Stuffiness: Septoplasty may cause mild obstruction due to swelling or sinusitis or following placement of nasal packing. This may cause discomfort but the septoplasty, itself is typically painless. On occasion donor tissue such as fascia or cartilage may be used and their may be pain in their donor sites.

Recuperation: It is an operation that requires often a combined mucosa and cartilage graft. There is postoperative swelling and resultant pain. This is self limiting and subsides in one or two weeks.

Septo = Surgery: Surgery is a form of injury. Even a carefully controlled injury like surgery, done under ideal conditions will be associated with pain and swelling. The extent varies tremendously from person to person, with some having virtually no pain and others taking several weeks or longer to recover. In general the pain is well tolerated and resolves quickly, and the benefits are greater then the risks.
