Plastic Spacers?: Discuss your concerns with your surgeon. You will likely be able to use plastic "spacers" so that there is no metal involved. Some types of cautery we use these days do not require the removal of metal etc. Best to check with your daughter's surgeon. Best wishes.

See below: You can get plastic placers to hold the holes open during the surgery and recover. If this is not possible talk to the anesthesiologist. They may be able to work around the issue.
