Total or LDL: If your total cholesterol is 110, you should talk to your doctor about possibly reducing your statin dose. Given your history, your goal LDL or bad cholesterol should be around 70. Do not stop any medication without checking with your doctor first. Statin not only lower your cholesterol, they also have an anti-inflammatory and plaque stabilizing effect that your dr. Is trying to accomplish.

Consider stopping: Discuss this with your doctor. Research shows that for those 70 & older high cholesterol is associated with longer survival & low cholesterol with shorter lifespan. Statins don't help the elderly.
