Unsure: You have risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Your LDL is above 160. Certainly dietary changes can make a difference in your cholesterol levels. You could try limiting intake of fatty animal products and recheck the cholesterol in 3-6 months. However, at a level that high I suspect you need a statin.

It may help: I believe it is debatable whether or not you need a statin. General guidelines recommend obtaining an LDL of less than 160. It is best to attempt a trial of diet and exercise to see if you can get your LDL lower. Good news is that your HDL level is very high which is associated with lower rates of atherosclerosis and argues against taking a statin.

Would help: Your HDL is fantastic, but it doesn't completely negate the deleterious effects of the high LDL. Lowering the LDL with a statin would still be helpful.
