No it does not: Dry fruits like peanuts, almonds, walnuts and other nuts do not raise your cholesterol level.

Cholesterol & Sugar: Fruit is 100% carbohydrate calories. So, the only way your scenario would work is if you have a sugar problem and too many triglycerides as in in the cholesterol panel.

Metabolic changes: Dried fruits are very high in sugar. Eating a lot of them over time could lead to Insulin resistance -- which in combination with other characteristics can lead to metabolic syndrome, in which cholesterol is high.
