Not necessarily...: Asthma is typically characterized by coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness. Trouble breathing, and specifically "stopping breathing" when lying down only are not classically described asthma symptoms. This could be more consistent with obstructive apnea and these symptoms should be discussed with your primary physician.
