Typically : Typically asthma causes cough, shortness of breath, and a wheezing sound from the lungs. Coughing up yellow or green sputum is typically not a characteristic of asthma. It sounds like you may be suffering from bronchitis, pneumonia, or even a foreign body lodged in your airway. Regardless, you should be seen by your primary care provider right away for a detailed history, physical, diagnostic testing if indicated, and ultimately treatment. Good luck.

Could be: You could have asthma but it is easy enough to check it out. Se your physician and have a spirometry test (don't worry it doesn't involve any tubes down your throat.)). Between that test and your detailed history (when do these attacks occur, what are you doing at the time, etc) can either confirm or rule out asthma. Good luck.
