A 35-year-old member asked:

does anybody know a home remedy to whiten teeth?

Yes and no!: There are many ways to whiten your teeth. Just look on the internet. Whitening is actually cleaning the enamel or outside layer of your teeth. But be careful! the layer underneath is dentin and that can be very sensitive. Too much whitening can damage this layer, cause extreme discomfort and and actually damage the nerve inside your teeth.

Good oral hygiene : The best is good oral hygiene habits. Have healthy gums which will make your smile ultimately lighter. Ask you doctor or hygienist to teach you good oral hygiene techniques. Stay away from foods with color additives, like coffee, black tea etc. Some say strawberries may be good for whitening, but many fruits have acids that may actually hurt your enamel so best is professional whitening.

Hydrogen peroxide: Even though studies show hydrogen peroxide can whiten teeth, consult with your doctor.
