What is the difference between hydroureteronephrosis and hydronephrosis?

What's dilated: The kidneys connect to the bladder by the ureters. If just the kidney collecting system is dilated it is hydronephrosis. If the ureters are dilated also, it is hydroureteronephrosis. It gives us an idea where the blockage is.

Somewhat technical: Hn applies to the kidney per se where hun implies distinction of the kidney and ureter ( the tube carrying urine from kidney to bladder). Often they mean the same thing, unless the point of obstruction is before the ureter begins, eg, the ureteropelvic junction.
