When to go...: To the dentist. Pain means it is time to get evaluated. In this case it is time to go to the dentist.

Fix it or remove it: You probably have a cavity in the tooth, or some food debris on the chewing surface. If you have room for the tooth in your mouth to be able to keep it clean see your dentist to fix it. If there isn't room for the tooth to erupt fully into your mouth you need to have it removed by an oral & maxillofacial surgeon.

Eruption of Wisdom: Teeth or third molars is from 17-21 years old. Since you had a hx of tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, there's a possibility that you had airway issues and no room for 3rd molar as well- but without an x-ray, e.g. Panoramic, no definitive DX can be done. Pressure from partially erupted 3rd molars where the operculum (tissue)covering the rest of the tooth is infected, can cause a great deal of pain.

See a dentist ASAP: I would get to an oral surgeon asap. Infection may be spreading.
