Yes: If you had to have teeth removed, it does take longer to close the spaces than it does to straighten the teeth. The next time you visit your dentist you should ask how long it should take in your particular case.

Yes: Orthodontic treatment is a process. Give it time. A full orthodontic case usually takes between 12 and 18 months.

Time: You can ask your orthodontist to make sure the end result will be no open spaces, no diastema.

Braces take time: Although many orthodontic cases appear to show resolution of crowded teeth quickly, this represents only the first stage of treatment. Root parallelization and space closure are the next stages. Be patient, the spaces will close.

Tincture of time: Orthodontic treatment requires time. First stage is level and align (straight teeth), next phase will be space closure and bite set up, last phase is detailing. I'm sure your treatment plan is longer than 4 months, be patient. Your great new smile is on the way!

Now you know: Now you know why your dentist or orthodontic specialist told you that you would be in braces for about ____ months. It takes less time to move crowns through air (levelling and alignment) than it does to move roots through bone. Be patient, great treatment for an esthetic, functional, and stable result takes time. Ask your orthodontist to discuss this with you.

Yes: spaces may be created during treatment, but I am sure your orthodontist has a plan to close them over time. You are early in treatment. I am sure if you discuss with your orthodontist they will explain why they needed to create the spaces and what the plan is to close them
