Yes: Yes. Although uncommon, there are a few types of fractures that require orthopedic intervention to avoid long term complications. Also, if there is a fracture, at the very least you would want to immobilize it to aid healing. Keep in mind that x-rays really only show bone injury and you may have a partial (assuming you have full range of motion) tear of a ligament or tendon which take time to heal.
