Uncommon: Although i haven't made a formal study of it, i'd guess less than 1 in 8.

Very few.: Since I do lifts plus implants as one operation it makes the most sense (and cost savings, least time off work, least risks) to make this decision carefully before surgery. Most women know how big or small they want to be; the variable is that some plastic surgeons remove more tissue in doing their lifts. Typically, i remove no more than 30-40gms of skin per side. Careful analysis=good outcome.

Few : Few patients who undergo breast lifting surgery return for breast implants. It is important to, prior to proceeding with any type of breast surgery, ascertain what the patient's goals are. Although there are circumstances where breast lifting is done first and breast augmentation planned secondarily, most patients undergo breast augmentation and lifting together. Practices vary among surgeons.

Close to none.: My breast consultations usually happen over 3 clinic visits. It takes this time for us to discuss the variables involved in breast surgery - use of implants, desired breast volume, incision location etc. There is a clear distinction between patients who want significant cleavage with an implant versus patients who prefer a more natural looking breast.

<10%: Usually less than 10 percent because we typically have a throuough discussion about the anticipated appearance of lifted breasts without implants include a review of photos. A breast lift will not typically accomplish upper breast fullness without r use of an i plant. As long as this is anticipated, you should not be dissapointed.

Uncommon: When considering a breast lift there are always two issues: the shape of the breast and the size of the breast. There is some overlap, so a board certified plastic surgeon should be consulted for guidance. The shape of the breast is improved primarily by a breast lift. The size, especially the upper pole volume, is controlled by a breast implant. The combo is effective when both issues present.
