Gilbert's Syndrome: In fact, this really is not a disease in the truest sense. It is a benign condition of elevated bilirubin in the blood without danger or risk to the health of the person who has it.

Benign : Gilberts disease is a cogenital disease with the liver having abnormal processing of bilirubin. It is usually common and discovered accidental when bilirubin is elevated with normal liver function. Patient may have jaundice during illness or stress or dehydration which usually resolves with end of those conditions. No treatment is usually required.

Gilbert's disease: Gilbert's disease is an inborn error of metabolism resulting in an increase in unconjugated bilirubin in the blood stream. It does not cause any symptoms other than occasional jaundice, usually only when there is an underlying infection or some other form of stress. Bonus: people with Gilbert's often have low risk of heart disease. Hope that helps.
