Maintain a normal sugar by eating snacks. Eat three well-balanced meals per day, exercise and take appropriate Insulin before each meal and basal Lantus (insulin glargine) at bedtime. Your endocrinologist and the other members of your diabetes care team can help you with this.

Proteins will satisfy hunger but not elevate the blood sugar in between meals. Some protein choices include nuts, cheese, plain yogurt (minus the fruit & sugar). Other options include high fiber carb choice like fresh fruit, whole grain foods, and starchy vegetables like carrots. These will raise the blood sugar, so watch portion sizes!
