Depends: Most anesthesia is not a problem. However patients who are allergic to soybean may have a problem with propafol which contains soy lecithin.

Sometimes: Some anesthetics can cause an allergic reaction similar to certain foods. It is very important that you discuss all of your allergies with your anesthesiologist so that they can avoid these medications.
