Went to er for huge axillary abscess y would they not drain, give antibiotics but say it may need i&d & does need surgery? i'm so very confused!

Abscess: Abscess should be addressed surgically. Okay to get in with a local surgeon. Take a friend with you for support and assistance with recording the details. Hard to know what the er visit concluded, hopefully they gave you a referral to a surgeon. Good luck.

Depends on: A lot of things. If there is no pus cavity, it is not really an abscess yet, but just uncontrolled local infection, so it cannot be drained. It might resolve without drainage, but it would depend on whether or not your body can control the infection without abscess formation. You just need to see how things develop over next few days.
