A member asked:

I'm getting laser iridotomy soon in both eyes. is it true that positioning the hole at 3 or 9 o'clock is better to avoid light aberrations? thanks!

Iridotomy: First, make sure you need the procedure. Then to prevent light aberration the best location would be between 11 and 1 o'clock where the upper lid would block incoming light.

Possibly: Iridotomy consists of making a small opening in the iris with a laser. The narrow angle typically gets worse with growth of the human lens as occurs with age. Cataract surgery, or lens replacement, is therefore usually curative. If lpi is performed, the openings should be made closer to 3 or 9, as pi under the upper lid sometimes create aberrations in vision due to prismatic effect from tears.
