Both, but with care: Both medicines are habit forming, but are different in regards to pharmacokinetics and how they behave. One is shorter acting than the other. Work with your physician to decide which medicine is best for you.

Benzodiazapines: Librium (chlordiazepoxide) has fallen from favor w many. As a practitioner - I am concerned about deaths that have occurred with the regular release form of xanax (alprazolam). Both fall in the class of benzodiazapines. These can be mood altering & have a significant potential for developing tolerance. If a benzodiazapine is required - hopefully it would be short term use. It must be obvious, that i recommend.

Benzos: Both are not indicated for long-term use, due to development of tolerance & addictive potential. Discuss with your prescribing doctor other options.
