Might be easy to fix: Hard to tell from your description, but this could be a "subungual hematoma, " or a collection of blood under a fingernail or toenail after you've bashed it. Usually it's just a drop of blood, but it can really hurt! a doctor or nurse could show you how to drain the blood and relieve the pain (but not all nurses know how). Of course, you should be sure you didn't fracture the toe.

Toe bruise : It is possible to have a stone bruise to the hallux (big toe). These type of injuries take time to heal. You can use ice and elevation as well as an NSAID like ibuprofen. If this does not resolve in a week it is then i would recommend seeing your foot and ankle specialist or an orthopedist trained in foot disorders.
