You (s)choose: I look at it this way. The slightly bruised lump was caused by: 1. Pressure on your toe with absolutely no involvement with the shoe. 2. Pressure on your toe caused by the toe and the shoe. 3. Pressure on the toe caused only by the shoe, having nothing to do with the toe's activity. I'm betting on number 2.
