What kind of doc?: Not all doctors practice the same way, and not all have the same training. Most primary care physicians would not have the time or training to provide talk therapy, but could more easily prescribe lorazepam. Depending on what your insurance company allows also, psychiatrists might write a prescription at the same time as referring for talk therapy -- but they're trained to provide that also.
