A member asked:

My daughter is 4 and was recently exposed to mono! it's been a week now and the only symptom she has is diarea. is that a sign of mono?

Dr. Jay Park answered

Unlikely: Most of young children exposed to "mono" do not develop typical symptoms of infectious mononucleosis such as swollen neck glands, exudative tonsillitis, and enlargement of spleen. They often develop nonspecific febrile illness.
