A member asked:

Should my child be diagnosed w/ ftt when she's healthy overall just thin (very active/low appetite) & genetically comes from 2 tiny families?

Can be normal- but..: This can be normal but i would like to know more about her growth curve. If it is essentially a normal curve but on the small side, it may be ok. If her growth curve has changed significantly in the last year, then i would typically recommend some dietary interventions such as adding healthy oils, nut butters and even a supplemental shake.

FTT: What's the percentile of your child's weight, height, and head circumference. If those are no less than 5%, she's normal. Otherwise, look for the trend in her growth patterns. If she's been underweight but steadily growing, she may be ok. Nonetheless, talk to your doc who is following her to get more insight as he knows more about your child med history.

Thin Vs not healthy: She may be perfectly ok, but maybe your doc is concerned not with her weight but her overall rate of growth.
