Gastro-esophageal: Reflux is a common cause of vomiting in low-birth-weight babies. Pyloric stenosis is another possible cause, usually with projectile vomiting by 6 weeks. If baby was ill as a newborn, there may be other causes. If vomiting causes inadequate weight gain ( less than 20-30 gms./day), it is definitely worth having baby's pediatrician evaluate ; treat or refer to a pediatric gastroenterologist.
