No: The radiation needed for this procedure is very small and was directed toward him. Your baby will not have absorbed any harmful xrays.

Always best to : Prevent exposure to radiation but with that said dental x-rays are very low dose to begin with and if the x-rays are digital the radiation is even significantly lower. If one looks at the overall picture, just being outdoors (sunshine or cloudy) you are getting radiation (x-rays). So i would not personally worry about a one time incident - but whenever possible always protect yourself / children.

Why?: Why were you in the room when x-rays taken? Pregnant or not, you should have been asked to leave the room. That said, dental x-rays are extremely low dosage, so chance of problem extremely small. Congrats on the baby, and take him/her to pediatric dental specialist no later than 1st b'day.

No, but...: No dentist should allow another in the room during x-ray exam unless there were behavioral/mental issues, and then, the vital areas of the "helper" (usually the doc) should be lead apron protected. I can only assume you were in the office, not the exam room. As a patient the x-rays will not harm you or baby if properly covered--infection, however, can affect the baby. Get any diagnosis needed.
