I : I would suggest you first ask your ob/gyn for their recommendation for dental treatment during pregnancy. Many have their own opinion on this subject others leave it to the dentist to decide. You should then discuss this with your dentist. Typically, the first trimester is most crucial. Treatment such as cavities, cleanings, radiographs and so on are usually done only when the benefits outweigh the risks. Good oral hygiene and with dental disease is important during pregnancy. Ideally, it is recommend that all dental treatment be completed prior to becoming pregnant and then re-evaluated after the first trimester.

The : The safest time to have dental care is during the middle trimester. Cleanings are ok, especially if you are having any gum inflammation (pregnancy gingivitis). X-rays are usually not taken unless there is an emergency situation that requires them. And of course with lead apron protection. Cavities are only addressed if they present an urgent problem, and if local anesthesia is required avoid the type with epinephrine. Always good to check wth your obgyn just to make sure all is good.
