I have an acl tear, and i wanted to know if a doctor could tell from an mri, how old it is?

ACL tear: Maybe. Acl tears are frequently associated with a specific pattern of bone bruising, when they are acute. However, the bone bruise will start to resolve after 4-6 weeks. Without bone injury or other soft tissue inflammation, there is no way of knowing if the tear is 8 weeks old or 8 months old, etc.
