Yes: MRI show fiber disruption exam shows laxity , mpfll is for patellofemoral instability different than acl knee instability

Hi there. Yes, MRI will show old and new ACL injuries. MRI is the best imaging exam to evaluate the ACL and MRI can distinguish between acute and chronic injury...the MR will show discontinuity of the ligament. MRI can show evidence of joint laxity by evaluating the position of the tibia with respect to the femur. Get the MRI, then you and your doc can make a plan. I wish you the best!
