Amount of bone?: It's not as much how long ago your teeth were extracted but the amount of healthy bone that is one of the major deciding factors. Some patients are not a candidate of implants even if the teeth were taken out yesterday, while others can wait 10 years and still have plenty of bone. You need to consult with a restorative dentist and a surgeon to discuss options and a treatment plan.

Possible: The best solution is to have a ct scan which will give a 3 dimensional picture of your jaw. This way you can be evaluated prior to any surgery as to whether you have enough bone for successful dental implant placement. If not then you have to consider bone grafting to rebuild the bone prior to dental implant placement.

Nearly Always, YES!: The factors to be considered for sucessful implant placement is there enough bone, where is it being placed (esthetic &/or functional), replacing single or multiple teeth, and the position of one's sinuses and nerves. Using a cone beam dental cat scan can take a lot of the guess work out and if the are not ideal conditions existing, experts know how to add the necessary bone and tissue. So go 4 it.
