Cotrimoxazole: Trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole (bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) or septra) may help to eliminate the acute infection, assuming it is due to strain usa 300. They can also be treated prophylactically to try to eliminate skin carriage using Mupirocin in the nares bid for several weeks and bathing solely with a Chlorhexidine containing soap.

See below: I would usually use septra/bactrim first, Doxycycline second and Clindamycin third and would want sensitivity data. Linezolid would be reserved for more serious outpatient infection treatment because of its expense and high risk of causing c. Difficile overgrowth.
