Bipolar and memory: First and foremost you should not have toxic level of lithium and tegretol. Both can cause severe memory impairment with high levels. Next your thyroid needs to be checked since both will affect thyroid function and cause similar problem. Bipolar has many types and manifestation eg type 1 type 2 etc. Each type of bipolar has different symptoms and different treatments. The nimh website will help.
