Yes: Tegretol is still used to treat manic depressive disorder. If treatment is ineffective a blood level should be drawn to ensure the dose is therapeutic. If the dose is therapeutic then consideration should be given to changing medication or identifying other factors that are negatively affecting treatment outcome.
