I have bipolar disorder and am on tegretol and lamictal but am also diabetic are there safer choices than tegretol?

Treating bipolar: If Tegretol and Lamictal are working well to control your bipolar symptoms, then this is a good combo for you. Tegretol shouldn't affect your sugar and is safe enough, if it's working. Your doc will check your liver enzymes and blood counts every few months. If the combo isn't working or you have intolerable side effects, then it would be worthwhile to switch.
