A member asked:

How safe is methotrexate taken orally for long term? are side effects likely? what are they?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reasonably safe: Methotrexate is a relatively safe drug, even over the long term. I have patients taking it over 20 years without problems. You need to have lab tests done routinely and should be on Folic Acid as well.
