Had ultrasound of gallbladder what is overlying bowel? is this bad?

Not bad: Ultrasound cannot see through air. The intestine (bowel) contains air. Air may block what the ultrasound can see. Sometimes the bowel gas or air prevents visualization of some organs like the pancreas. This is not unusual and does not mean anything bad.

See answer: Bowel contains air, which is impervious to ultrasound. The location of bowel in the abdomen is somewhat variable – it can be postioned more anterior (front) or posterior (back). If the bowel is located between the skin surface and the gallbladder it is said to be “overlying” it, and visualization of the gallbladder may be obscured by the bowel which could block the ultrasound beam. This is not.
