Depends: "double chins" are two parts -- extra fat of the neck, and extra skin stretched over that. Liposuction will remove fat, but leave skin, giving you a "wattle" instead -- loose hanging skin, like a turkey. Best results are with a combo of liposuction for fat, and plastic surgery to cut off and re-contour the skin of your neck. You will trade a double chin for a scar. Good luck!

Skin laxity?: The results of liposuction on your chin/neck will depend on the quality and laxity of your skin and its ability to contract following fat evacuation. If sufficient fat is removed, you may be left with loose or irregular skin. Generally speaking, at 38 years of age, your skin contraction is not as good as it would be for some one under 30. However, you should be able to see significant improvement.

Liposuction: Liposcution can help to reduce the fat from the neck area. However, you may also need to have the skin tightened if there is excess looseness. Consult a board certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate your particular needs.

Maybe.: You should undergo liposuction of the chin only if you are a good candidate. Good candidates are patients who present with adipose tissue of the chin area with good quality overlying skin. If there is, on the other hand, redundant skin and/or poor quality skin elasticity, the result of the liposuction surgery will be unsatisfactory.

Possibly: If your double chin is mostly fat and not much excess skin, then liposuction of the neck will improve it. If there is loose skin you may need some skin tightening procedure.
