Assuming this is the: Congenital type which affects 6% of the population, 90% are treated non op with a course of physical therapy, sometimes a back support & with medication if no reasons not to utilize like non steroidal anti inflammatories . For those that don't respond to non op care & the pain is to a degree that one cannot live or work with it, a fusion surgery is indicated with 90% success rate if a non smoker.
