Surgeon: Blood from the mouth either comes from the GI tract or the respiratory tract. Your doctor should be able to find out with a variety of exams.

Cough or vomit?: Coughing up blood generally comes from lungs (less from sinuses with post nasal drip)-usually needs pulmonary doc and bronchoscopy to localize and rx; chest surgeons may get incolved as well. Vomiting up blood is generally upper gastrointestinal tract- GI docs get involved, do endoscopy to diagnose and possibly treat. General surgeon may get involved.
